Hot news: Pantone™ - the reference for fashion designers and fashion addicts - has announced Marsala as its 2015 color of the year. So let it be! Happy 2015 Marsala New Year!
So far most of us knew Marsala for being a delicious Sicilian wine (tell me about a yummy Chicken Marsala...). From now on, Marsala is much more than that: in 2015, it is a color to live by. "This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors"... “Sensual and appealing, Marsala is a compelling and cordial tone that nurtures; exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind and soul”... “It’s often associated with elegance and sophistication, yet has down-to-earth roots so it’s easy to embrace,” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director at the Pantone Color Institute® says.
In case you would get confused (Bordeaux, Burgundy and Marsala: it looks like an ongoing and big fight between French and Italian wine hues) it is time for us to help you... Here is what Marsala - other than as wine sauce - looks like: a rich red-brown shade:
► Strength #1 of Marsala color: because it is a sultry and subtle shade, it flatters pretty much all skin tones and all hair colors.
► Stength #2: it is not overpowering , therefore it "does embody a certain amount of confidence and stability", Eiseman says.
►Strenght #3: it can easily be mixed with quiet and neutral shades such as gray, black or beige, especially when it comes in a light touch as only a silk scarf can offer. A delicate touch of Marsala color will be enough to keep you up with the trend.
If subtlety is your motto, then a Marsala silk scarf combined with Marsala lipstick or nail polish or Marsala accessories - such as boots - is way enough to add the final fashion touch to your look!
Kick out 2014! Let the 2015 Marsala year be!
