SILK SCARVES AND LEATHER JACKETS: A SENSUOUS MIX!

Fashion fades whereas, by definition, iconic pieces emerge to stand the test of time. Every woman who wears a silk scarf remembers the scarf icons Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, or Audrey Hepburn. They would wear theirs with such grace and style that, years later, a silk scarf has become a staple for all stylish women.

On the man's side, one piece took the lead years ago. Spotlights on the leather jacket! It remains associated to handsome "ambassadors" such as Marlon Brando’s or Harrison Ford’s - AKA Indiana Jones. Ohhhh, to meet Harrison Ford. Just once! OK. Forget... unless you were hired to play in the new Star Wars movie!

When a feminine iconic piece meets a masculine iconic piece... it makes a delightfully sensuous mix: on one side the softness of an ultra feminine silk scarf, on the other side the wildness of leather. What a pair!

Is it new? Not exactly. In the 1930’s both were vital items of flight gears. At that time, pioneer aviators would need them to stay warm and to survive in wide-open cockpits. A leather bomber jacket and a simple white silk scarf were the usual - and mandatory - uniform.

Amelia Earhart changed a little the rule. She was the first “aviatrix” (feminine for a female pilot…) to fly solo across the Atlantic. Who remembers she was also an editor at Cosmopolitan magazine? Other than being a talented and brave aviator, Earhart had a true sense of fashion and elegance. Most photos we have from her show her with a leather jacket and a fancy silk scarf - not a white one… Earhart was the first one who inspired a new, ultra feminine, and timeless style.

Back to nowadays. Ladies: it’s time to grab your silk scarf and your leather jacket (or your husband’s…) and to play with these two iconic accessories!
